Iconic Razor Design for an Ultra-Premium Experience

Gillette wanted to combine razor technology with their ultra-premium Art of Shaving line or razors and brushes without sacrificing the mission of the brand.

From initial sketch to final product, the design direction embraced the interplay between high-tech and timeless quality.

Concept Generation and Refinement

In respecting the Art of Shaving brand, we needed to respect the materials and the experience they conveyed.

Quick sketch studies and material layouts lead to models that were tested for feel, weight and ease of use. The goal was to create a new generation of heirloom for men.

Material Break-Up and CMF Exploration

Color-blocking and material exploration was conducted for assembly and brand appearance.

Several iterations were viewed to establish a brand icon, as well as seamlessly transfer to other products in the line.

Final Razor and Shave Kit Launch

The final design, coupled with the matching badger-hair shave lather brush and custom stand, provided a “barber-shop quality shave experience at home”.

The design became the launch of the current Lexington shave line from Art of Shaving
