Entering a new appliance category, PowerXL needed a fresh look and a bold statement to stand out in a crowded market.
With a minimalist approach and leveraging understandable form, we developed an aesthetic that can be iconic and also fit a wide range of kitchen decors and styles.
Design elements conveying power, robustness and performance are implemented into the housing design. Finish treatments and interface are enhanced as brand and price point change. Setting clear “step-up” options for the consumer
2-in-1 Iron and Steamer
Bringing innovation to the market from Black & Decker appliances, the 2-in-1 Iron and Steamer allows consumers to quickly go from steaming large garments and fabrics to pressing and removing creases like a traditional iron. Ergonomic development was explored for hand and weight displacement during both tasks, and levels of CMF treatment were outlined for flexibility in price point and global market exclusivity.
Visual Brand Language Development
Document examples and visuals behind the development of a George Foreman Visual Brand Language (VBL).
History of the brand, as well as brand voice and current market positioning were considered in constructing visual elements.

Russell Hobbs understands that the kitchen is the hub of the home and consumers want statement pieces to reflect their personality, but without sacrificing performance and consistent results. The new Distinctions collection has a stunningly distinctive design, with the quality and functionality that you expect from Russell Hobbs, giving your kitchen the “wow” factor unlike any other.
Featuring high-end finishes and an innovative UI, Distinctions empowers consumers to boldly start the day. The line features an espresso machine, 2-slice toaster and electric kettle.
